Guitarist and music producer in New York City.
I’m a guitarist, record producer, and bandleader based in New York City. I’m currently working on the second Bell Helium album, along with several other projects for my label, Workbench Recordings.
From 1998-2003, I was a member of the Billy Nayer Show, contributing to four of their albums and appearing in the film The American Astronaut (2001).
I’ve released three solo albums — Java Street Bagatelles (2006), Fresh Twigs (2008), and Astral Law (2011) — on Workbench Recordings. These records received reviews in publications including The Wire and All Music Guide (reviewed by Eugene Chadbourne).
In 2014, I produced and performed on Philip Lynch’s album At the Start / At Long Last, also released on Workbench.
Between 2017-2019, I led the James Beaudreau Band, which played monthly shows at The Shrine in Harlem. The group focused on covers, drawing from artists like the Grateful Dead, Dylan, Fairport Convention, Joni Mitchell, Robert Plant, Joan Armatrading, and more.
By 2019, members of that band had formed a new group called Bell Helium, which recorded an album released in 2021. In 2023, the UK label BBE licensed the track “We Don’t Have To Talk About It” for inclusion in the compilation Reference Point.
The follow-up to Bell Helium’s debut album is slated for release in late 2025.
